History
The Tri-Adventure is the brainchild of Danny Nashman, founder of
The Potential Group.
Danny has planned and worked on many successful fundraising events for
AIDS-related service organizations in Toronto. He wanted to do something special to
bring awareness to - and raise funds for - those suffering from the impact of the HIV/AIDS pandemic in
Africa.
Nashman thought it would be exciting to stretch people out of their
comfort zone and challenge them physically and mentally, as well as raise awareness and funds for HIV/AIDS
programs in Africa. He pulled together a great team to plan and implement the event.
As friends and others heard about Danny's initial ideas for the event and who would benefit from
the proceeds, The Tri-Adventure was born! Meeting every other week,
a committee of seven dedicated folks embarked on a great adventure.
On August 19th, 2005, 18 participants and five volunteer crew made the inaugural Tri-Adventure a
resounding success by raising $53,000 (net) in pledges.
And,on August 18th, 2006, 25 participants and eight volunteer crew surpassed that success by generating over $80,000 in funds (net) for
the Stephen Lewis Foundation. This included one participant raising over $15,000!
