Nikibasika

The Nikibasika Learning & Development Project is a home for 51 vulnerable children in Kasese, Uganda who have been impacted by HIV/AIDS or civil war. The TriAdventure has beome these kid's primary source of funding for food,
shelter and education.

This year, 90% of the funds will be directed to Nikibasika with the remaining 10% going towards programs supported by the Canadian Africa Community Health Alliance (CACHA) - an umbrella funding agency for the orphanage and other programs in Africa.

The end result is 100% of every donation received by the TriAdventure continues to go directly towards programs and services in Africa.

Tax receipts will be issued in the full amount for all donations over $20.

Since the inaugural event in 2005, the TriAdventure has raised more than $400,000 for our beneficiaries. This past year we raised $97,505.00 alone!

Nikibasika Nikibasika means "it is possible" in the Western Ugandan language of Runyankole.

There are 51 children in Kasese, Uganda that come from families who have been affected by HIV AIDS or civil wars and a group of Canadians have taken it upon ourselves to sponsor them and ensure that they have a chance to understand that "it is possible". We will work with this group of children over the next 11 years until we have given every single one of them the chance to become a self sustaining healthy adult who has chosen a career path that they enjoy and is suited to them.

In order to ensure that this happens the project will fund all of the basic needs of the 51 children right through whatever post secondary education they choose and incorporate career and life skills development such as basic health practices, financial management, career planning and self awareness and respect.

Throughout all of this, we recognize that the children at Nikibasika will be among the more privileged children in Kasese so we will incorporate ways for them to give back to their community, just as we have given to them.

Canadian Africa Community Health Alliance (CACHA)

The Canada Africa Community Health Alliance is a humanitarian organization that seeks to improve population health and provide HIV care and education to remote African communities. We accomplish this through the provision of adequate resources based on the determinants of health that include: childhood education, water and sanitation, women's rights, income security, housing and nutrition. We provide materials, infrastructure, and the exchange of skill development in order to create a positive outcome on health in supported regions of operation. We seek to engage in strategic partnerships and build programs to ensure sustainability, transparency and accountability.
